Homemade Plant-based Mylk in 5 Minutes!

I love a good bowl of oatmeal or even cereal.  The challenge is finding a plant-based milk replacement that does not take too much time to convert to mylk.  The other challenge was finding one that my son would like and not find too creamy.  He wanted one that resembled store-bought plant-based/vegan mylks.  Well, after much trial and error, I have figured out a quick and easy go-to recipe for my fellow busy moms, students, and professionals! 

This recipe is super simple and can be made with a blender.  I switched from Blendtec to the Ace Blender and it is amazing! Below are the ingredients I used. 

  • 2 cups – Filtered Cold Water
  • 1/2 cup – Soaked cashews (soak for 10 minutes – 4 hours)
  • 1/8 Teaspoon – Vanilla Extract 
  • 3 Whole – Pitted Dates  
  • A Dash of Sea/Himalayan Salt (or 1/16 teaspoon) 
  • Strainer/bowl or mixing glass 
  • Extra 1-1 1/2 cups of Filtered Cold Water 

It is so simple! Add all the ingredients, except the extra 1-1 1/2 cups of water to the blender.  My blender has a nut mylk button.  If you do not, blend for no less than 2 minutes or until it is thoroughly blended well.  Pour into a bowl using a reusable strainer (cut down on waste), clean the strainer and pour into the measuring glass. For good measure, when I pour it into the glass I am storing it in, I strain again, but this is not necessary.  In the final glass, add the extra 1 to 1 1/2 cups of water.  Mix well and enjoy in 3 days! It tastes great, is not too creamy, has a store like consistency without the extra unnecessary ingredients and is super fast to make, saving you time. Adding water also makes more mylk and stretching your dollar. You can pair this with my homemade cereal recipe, oatmeal or just enjoy a nice glass.
